Mandarin Festival

Anthestiria, or Flower Festival


This is a tribute to Cyprus' extraordinary natural wealth. May is known as the month when donkeys are born, and therefore the "Golden Donkey Farm" organizes a festival on Sunday, May 12, in Skarinou, which differs from other festivals.
During the celebration, you will get acquainted with the adorable animal, which was once an integral part of Cypriot life but is now in decline. Additionally, you can try riding donkeys - it's a fun and unique experience, and those expecting it to be similar to horseback riding will be pleasantly surprised.
Over a century ago, Cyprus was a country where donkeys could be found almost everywhere - as domestic and wild animals. Today, Cypriot donkeys mainly live in reserves.
Fortunately for tourists, some donkey reserves are open to tourists all year round. They offer various attractions with these cute animals. You can volunteer to take care of them, adopt one of them - of course, it will remain on the farm, but you will know that one specific donkey is living a happy life thanks to you. Additionally, you can try riding donkeys - it's a fun and unique experience, and those expecting it to be similar to horseback riding will be pleasantly surprised. Donkey safaris are usually offered in warm seasons, namely from April to October.
For lovers of healthy food, donkey milk can be purchased, as well as cosmetics. Locals say that these products have a rejuvenating and cleansing effect.

Rose Festival


The Rose Festival in the village of Agros in Cyprus is a vibrant and colorful celebration that takes place annually in May. The first festival will take place on May 12, 2024. A large culinary celebration will be held on the main square of Tersefanou. All types of snails are eaten in Cyprus. Snails are considered a delicacy, which is why they are so expensive. The tastiest and most expensive ones are the large snails. There are many of them on the Karpasia Peninsula, in the Kokkinochoria area, as well as on the southern coast from Larnaca to Limassol. And, of course, there are many of them in Tersefanou.

Platres is a very picturesque place! The village has come a long way from a small settlement to a prestigious mountain resort.

At the event, you can expect Cypriot national dances and songs, entertainment for children. You can attend seminars to learn about the healing properties of lavender, participate in workshops on making lavender essential oil, and learn how to create lavender bouquets.

This is a traditional celebration with music, dances, a fair, and tasting of watermelon sweets. The atmosphere of the festival is always light, relaxed, and, of course, delicious - as there will be a huge quantity of watermelons!

Visitors will get to know the national watermelon jam - glyko koutali, taste watermelon ice cream, and refresh themselves with watermelon juice.

You can snack on the famous halloumi cheese - its delicate creamy taste goes well with the sweet freshness of watermelon. Local cheese makers will provide these treats abundantly at the festival and also share their cooking methods with everyone.

Children at the festival won't get bored either - there will be a playground, contests, and mini-events. Plus, an invited artist will paint faces for all interested kids. It will be fun!

Peach Festival

The annual festival takes place in August in the picturesque village of Kato Milos in the Pitsilia region.

Local farmers will present their juicy and fragrant produce. You'll not only be able to buy peaches but also taste them directly at the festival for free. Guests will enjoy a variety of peach preserves - jams, compotes, pies, various desserts, and much more.

Visitors will be offered snacks and drinks in unlimited quantities. A musical program with folk songs and dances is planned for the festival. There will also be a photo exhibition of peach trees.

The village of Kato Milos was chosen for the festival for a reason. It is home to the largest peach plantations on the island, which ripen in August.

Orange Festival

Miliou, one of the smallest villages in Cyprus, organizes the Orange Festival.

The villagers will cool drinks and bake traditional Cypriot sweets. Those interested can buy orange honey, collected by bees during the blossoming of orange trees on the picturesque hills of Miliou, candied orange peels, orange marmalades, and candles with citrus aroma and dried orange pieces.

On the main village square near the Ayia Paraskevi church, festival guests will be treated to orange juices, marmalades, jellies, and pastilles made from oranges. Liqueurs and even citrus-colored beer will also be available.

Pomegranate Festival

The Pomegranate Festival is an annual event dedicated to the ruby-red fruits. It takes place in late September in Ormidia, near Larnaca.

First and foremost, traditional Cypriot products based on pomegranate will be presented at the event. So, at the festival, you can not only indulge in fresh and sweet pomegranates but also taste pomegranate medallions, palouze, jams, and even pomegranate liqueurs.

The festive program includes modern and traditional Cypriot dances, as well as entertainment for adults and children.

The Traditions Festival (Cypriot Tradition), which has been successful for several years now, will once again take place in Fikardou village.

Apple Festival

Two-thirds of all apples in Cyprus are grown in Kyperounda. The altitude and cool climate make the fruits crisp and very tasty. That's why the village pays tribute to its main produce every October at the annual Apple Festival.

This is one of the brightest festivals in Cyprus, where you can see, eat, and enjoy the aroma of apples. Seasonal apples, traditional products, freshly squeezed apple juice, apple pies, apple vinegar, and many other treats will be presented at the open-air market.

There will also be an art exhibition on the apple theme, a display of all apple varieties grown in Cyprus, as well as apple by-products.

Experienced locals will prepare the famous version of apple juice "palouze" and also conduct apple distillation in real-time.

The program includes folklore dances from Cyprus and Greece, traditional music performed by professional artists, and a contest for tasting apple recipes.

Zivania Festival

Zivania is a traditional Cypriot grape vodka, produced on the island since the 15th century. The alcohol content of the drink varies from 45 to 49 degrees, and in the homemade version, it can reach up to 55-70%. Cypriots call this drink "firewater," and the secrets of its preparation are passed down from generation to generation.

If you enjoy strong spirits, then you should definitely visit one of the mountain villages of Cyprus: Alona or Pelendri, where a festival full of joy, dances, songs, and, of course, plenty of zivania will take place...

During the festival, local artisans will traditionally produce Zivania and wine, as well as treats made from grape juice: paluze and suzuko. All visitors will have the opportunity to taste the drink and hot paluze for free.
